HEAT IS THE ENEMY
Exercise causes muscles to heat up that leads to fatigue and eventually a decrease in performance output. At the cellular level, higher temperatures stop ATP production. And when ATP stops being produced, muscles stop working.
THE POWER OF COOLING
To restore ATP production, athletes need to cool down muscles. The fastest, most effective way to do that is through the palms of your hands. Hands contain unique blood vessels called arterio-venous anastomoses (AVAs) which connect small arteries and small veins. By cooling palms, cool blood goes directly to the heart and is then immediately pumped throughout the body – cooling muscles at an incredible pace supercharging recovery.
